                              Prayer Shawl Update

Update:  The Prayer Shawl Ministry is very active! We just completed a project of knitting or crocheting scarves for  Special Olympics! The red and blue colors were a delight to see on our alter rail for January’s Communion Service.

Our mission is to provide comfort and hope through faith, prayer, and blessings. Comfort is intertwined with the soft touch of yarn or fabric, compassionate hands, and spiritual movement. A person who is in need of consoling is surrounded by human benevolence and holy encouragement while wearing a shawl or a blanket. The ministry has dedicated members and new members are always welcome!

We offer a variety of ways to be in mission through knitting, crocheting, and sewing. In addition to our work with shawls and blankets, our group knits or crochets hats and mittens for the Tree of Life Ministry. We also work with another local craft club to provide knitted or crocheted squares that are joined together to make large blankets for patient in local hospitals or long term care facilities. Plus, we knit or crochet chemotherapy caps for local cancer patients. New ideas, like the Special Olympics scarf project, are inspirational and welcome within our ministry.

Please come and join us! Our schedule is on the church calendar and the “green” sheet. You do not need to know how to knit or crochet. We can teach you! There is no age minimum or maximum to participate in our mission and we are not gender specific!

                               Blessings,
                                              Susan Thiem
