Outreach Mission Ministries

We support the work of the United Methodist Economic Ministry in Salem, Franklin County, Maine.  Hand knit hats have been delivered during the summer months by the Saratoga Springs UMC mission team.
The ongoing ministry of making hats, and scarves, is carried out throughout the year from the loving knitting needles and crochet hooks by the hands of Ilah, Breta, Donna, Alyson, and other talented knitters and crocheters.
Yarn can be donated towards this project by leaving it in the church in the labeled baskets in the back of the sanctuary.  Most any kind of yarn is useable but knitting 4-ply yarn is the most used for hats.  Any donations are truly appreciated!
The rural area of Franklin Country, Maine is economically challenged.  The United Methodist Economic Ministry was started there in 1969.  The UMEM provides a Thrift Shop, Food Pantry and support services year-round with special outreach before school starts with backpacks and supplies, and at Christmas time with gifts and clothing. Outreach to the Four Corners Native American Ministry in Shiprock, New Mexico:
The mandate of helping those around us was stated in Matthew 25, when Jesus said, "as you do it for the least of these you have done it unto me." We reach out to help in ways that make other lives better by keeping our brothers and sisters warm in winter.
We also continue to support ministries for the Navajo or Dine People in New Mexico by providing hand knit hats and scarves to provide warmth during the winter season.  We also provide items for the homeless shelters in that area.
Four Corners Native American Ministries can be found on their site on Facebook.
Contact Ilah Sisson Walser or the church office for more information or to learn how you might help out these worthy mission programs.
